NAS Early Bird Programme for pre-school children
For: Pre-school children
A three month programme for parents/ carers of pre school children with an Autism Spectrum Condition. It combines group training sessions with individual home visits. Two places are allocated to each family.
The eight group sessions are held locally, on the same day each week, each session lasts 2.5 hours.
The programme is delivered by local professionals with experience and understanding of autism spectrum conditions, who have all been trained at the NAS early bird centre.
The aims of the programme:
- To empower parents to support families in the person between diagnosis and school placement.
- To help establish good practice in these very important early years of development.
What will be learnt on the course:
- The early bird approach will help you to understand you child’s autism.
- Structure interactions to develop communication.
- develop strategies to preempt problem behaviours and / or manage those that do occur.
